I don't feel like I belong anywhere. I do not know why.
SW-User
I don't either. I think I know why, I just don't really want to admit it

@HalfCactus: Will you say it loud here? I want to know if you feel up to sharing.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: I typed out a lengthy response, but deleted it because I was sounding condescending. Now I got nothing.

What I was starting to say was that I think people are superficial. They want simple answers and simple solutions. You look up and down this site and see just how few answers exceed two sentences. It's like people have no room in their realities for nuance or complexity. If you don't fit a mold or subscribe to a -ism, people don't know what box to put you in and choose to reject you instead

@HalfCactus: I get it. You got and want depth of a similar frequency to yours to make it relatable. And that is necessary to make and keep long lasting connections. Sometimes all it takes is one person to make you feel like you belong.
And there are a few deep people on here too. I notice them on my questions. Or even out there on QnA. But a lot of people do not like to engage because more often than not they've been burnt and it becomes easier to fleet around.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: And that makes it harder for people to feel like they belong. I wonder if I were more engaging, would it be easier for me to belong? I don't know what it would take, honestly. I just hate drifting through life without finding anything to hold onto

@HalfCactus: I think it becomes a vicious cycle. Wanting to belong but not wanting to take the risk. I do think it is important to relate to someone at depth. It grounds us.
