Not really, the words are a little bit different to what we sing, supposedly about the plague in Britain 1665.

Sounds a litte more like kids decending to hell to me but thats just me haha

a lot of those old-time kid songs were creepy. I think it's because life was pretty harsh back then.

No, I sang it as a child. It's just one of many childhood songs and stories that hold a darker meaning and history than we ever realized.
