If Trump wants to spend $54 billion on the Military who is he scared about?

Standard Republican presidential policy.
When you have no clue what to do, beef up the military !
1. Half the country will say they feel safer.
2. Great way of employing poor folk from the Southern states.
3. Unlikely to be challenged by Congress or the Senate.
4. EVERY Republican president since the Reagan era has managed to find at least one nation to pick a fight with !
That employs troops; arms manufacturers; vehicle technicians; food suppliers; uniform suppliers: boot manufacturers etc etc.
War is 'good' for failing economies !

Typically, democrat administrations let military infrastructure fall into disrepair, and republican administrations apply financial CPR to the weakened armed forces. Ignoring our military for another 8 years would make rebuilding even more expensive.

It's probably because military readiness is down the toilet right now. Soldiers attend more SHARP and suicide prevention classes than actual training.

Obviously America needs to protect its freedoms! Which are in the Middle East for some reason.

it's common practice for dictators to spend huge amounts of money on the military because it increases their power and it helps when the inevitable war starts

If your country is prepared that's always good.
