Why is there such a disparity between the salaries of doctors and residents?

I'm a plastic surgery resident and I earn 38k/year. And this is Boston which basically means I can't afford anything. One of the plastic surgeons I work with earns 600k/year, and he is literally three years out of residency. Like he's almost the same guy he was during his fellowship and later years of residency.

That's how much you guys make 600k.... nurses make 80-100k... maybe I'll go back to school... 馃槀馃槀馃槀... I know it's tough.. you'll get there before you know it....

Lmao I'm at mass gen. It's gonna be much less at any less reputable hospital.
Id go back to school tho. I never got the point of being a nurse. You guys work so hard and are treated so badly and earn so much less.
