I used to have 75cents allowance.
One time at the store I was thrill ed to see something so beautiful for $1.25. I was 5 years old. I asked my dad if he could give me the rest. He gave me the 50cents and said I could repay him. I had no idea what that meant..... and for the next two weeks, my allowance had 25cents deducted.
I still have that glitter hair bow in my closet someplace, and it reminds me that money has value, and debt has responsibility.
