that's a dictionary definition ! Although I doubt you needed it
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: lol thank you. Ive heard numerous definitions of it. The one in the Bible states that religion is to feed and clothe the poor.
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: LoL you're welcome! Well each ones take on religion is different. To me religion ways in which one follows God, or sometimes not God ( eg Buddhism) a way that's organized to be spiritual ! as opposed to being spiritual in your own way if that makes sense to you
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: sure it does. I think its an individual acknowledgment. Not what other people say it is.
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: Yep, although when it's organized religion it's pretty much what the authorities of that church say when it comes to practising the religion, although even in such congregations of followers there will be no doubt different takes on it
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: right and not everyone is comfortable enough with sharing their take. So they follow whatever is being taught.
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: well sure if they want to stay within that religion ! But many people do share their take, and go their own spiritual way
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: yes I know many on both sides.
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: And sometimes you can take a little bit from various religious or spiritual practises and apply them to your own spiritual ways
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: actually I think that is what we do.
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: You could read a book on Buddhism for example and like certain elements of it, but not enough to want to be Buddhist. Or like aspects of a Christian religion but not enough to want to be Christian .. and so on! So then, you can take what you want from those and apply them..
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: I agree which is what I've done in my own life but I was raised Roman Catholic. After many years not practicing it some older man actually said to me 'once your a Catholic always Catholic'... I didn't know how to respond..I was taken aback... Lol
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: Lol, I'm technically Catholic, although not practising .. But culturally I suppose.. I'm from Ireland and Catholicism is religion wise the primary religion in the republic of Ireland, although many are not church goers.. Hence why I said Culturally ! .. But yeah I prefer to be spritual in my own way
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: Same with Italians. It's funny how things have changed and are changing faster and faster. A lot of people can't keep up.
Hustler2 · 41-45, M
@Justpeaceandlove: That's true on the Italian part.. Rome being the place where the head of the church resides. Vatican city
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@Hustler2: lol... Right... my grandparents came over here from Calabria but I never got the chance to meet them.
