Do you mean death? From my understanding, our brain cages our mind, which is our thoughts, memories and other psychological functions which you would refer to as "yourself". So when the brain dies, so does all the memories and thoughts and etc. It seems like you wanted a more spiritual response, but I think its important to consider that point of view as well.
