Why do people pluralise words by putting an apostophe then an s?

It's truly bizarre 馃

To be clear: I know what an apostrophe is for. I'm asking because I've seen comments where people have used apostrophes to form plurals. One example I remember is "body's" instead of "bodies".

No idea. Apostrophe is more for possessive. The apple's core was rotten. Or if it's several apples, The apples' cores were rotten.

I'm trying to think of anything that needs an apostrophe to create a plural. Not having any luck.

There is no reason. But I've seen comments online that use apostrophes to make a plural. Like "body's" instead of "bodies".

@KiwiDan: I often wonder what kind of job they have, and hope, for their sakes, that accuracy isn't important.

@Serenitree: It's beyond me how anyone could be so poor at spelling that they don't know how to form plurals, but are literate enough to send online messages.

@KiwiDan: but they aren't. You noticed it yourself. They can spell well enough to text or even send full messages, but their spelling and grammar are atrocious.

@Serenitree: I know, that's how it manages to be beyond me
