Doesn't anybody take the time to get to know someone anymore?

Sheesh, what is wrong with our society...Hate to tell you this people, but people are not disposable. I am beginning to wonder if all of this technology might be bad for developing good friendships/relationships....the grass is not always greener and it's as if a good part of the world is spinning in circles or something.

I like the process of getting to know another person. I agree with your post. We have a disposable society, for sure.

I like to get to know someone and i've been around technology all my life. But i'm different than others I would say. I would probably agree with technology putting a hindrance on the human mind with social skills.

It's like how can technology be so great as to replace basic human interaction? Almost in some ways like we are taking a step back to foster good interaction despite it allegedly being better. The irony...

@OWise1: Easy way to brainwash people is to keep them uninformed. If their faces are stuck into their phones they won't know what is going on around them and will pretty much believe in what the media tells them. I may be a little off-topic but it's still relate-able I think.

@Kinevil: You're so right unless you are a free spirit like me lol who gripes on here lol

I've thought, or been reminded by single friends, how difficult it is date nowadays. The attention span is tiny, and the next generation will be raised on the instant gratification the internet provides, and they will grow up constantly looking for the next "best thing" waiting around the next click.

@OWise1: Click culture. Hey I like that! I'm going to use it more often. Click culture...lol
OWise1 · F
@NewKidInTown: You've coined a phrase :)

@OWise1: Feel free to use it. I want it to go viral. Dammit, now I'm falling victim to my own click culture! ; )

Technolgy is bad for developing good social and communication skills. No one seems to be able to talk without staring at a screen.

It's so weird isn't it? Guess I'm old fashioned. As much as technology is fun , it's got to be put in check and there has to be a balance of some sort, or so it would seem.

I also think it takes time and effort to cultivate the friendships. I find because i dont facebook, many seem unwilling to interact using...well our actual faces and talking on the phone or going out lol

@Missing: It's tough for me to wrap my thought process around just using technology and not the traditional ways as well. I know we are in a progressive society, but come on lol
SDesert33 · 22-25, F
I agree with you, I feel like nobody is even real at moments. They hide themselves behind screens and a lot of times pretend to be someone their not. People get hurt and make desitions and "relationships" way too fast.

You are so so right...it truly sucks.

Eh, I prefer to speak to have conversations in person. Can't constantly be glued to social media or screens all day
OWise1 · F
I so agree
My thoughts exactly.
@NigelDoes: If I had a problem, you'd be the first to know of it. You know this! 😆

👍 Indeed! Technology is ruining intimacy and warping what people call love. There's always a new playmate available with the next click of a mouse. No-one has to commit or be accountable.

And...

Yes, some of us indeed do.

:) I think our age group is a bit different although I've seen many in our age group be like lost little sheep or something. Weird...
