It only takes one psycho walked into 20 minutes to ruin 10 years of your life. So I get the protectiveness though I don't agree with it.

Have you taken up fighring or strength training? Its a poor way to live, living in fear. But it is far more poor to not arm yourself.

In my experience, people who arm themselves with the experience are safer in both body and mind to exercise freedom.

Some people are paranoid. I did everything in my 20s on my own with no worries...

Anyway, pretty sunset on the sidewalk

Imagine something for me, please: you decide to go for a walk. While you're out walking, an anvil falls out of the sky and squishes you. You die on the spot. Unfortunate. But the police have trouble identifying you, since you're basically a pancake, so they decide to check your dental records (since tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the body, it's the least likely to be damaged). In the course of this examination, they discover that you, like every other human that ever lived, had the bacteria that cause tooth decay in your mouth. Because of that, they declare that you died of tooth decay. Does that make sense to you? Of course not; you died of being squished by an anvil.

But that's almost exactly the standard by which medical authorities in almost every country on Earth judged "Covid deaths". And that "almost" isn't a limiting factor, it's a redeeming one, since you actually HAVE tooth decay (the bacteria, if not actual damage); SARS-Covid-2 infections (Covid-19 wasn't the infection; it was the cytokine storm) were often diagnosed through high-cycle PCR tests (the cycles scale logarithmically; at 35 cycles, you'd probably test positive for smallpox). People were counted as "Covid deaths" who died from heart attacks, cancers, gunshot wounds, traffic accidents, and any other available means of death; remember George Floyd? He was autopsied, tested positive, and since it was within 30 days of his death, it was counted.

Even WITH that ridiculousness, SARS-Covid-2 has a CFR (case fatality rate; the percentage of people with a disease that seek medical care and subsequently die of it) of 0.3%. Just over half of the 0.5% of the great and terrible killer known as... chicken pox.

THAT is what your economic future was sacrificed for. The world wants you to be scared, because it makes you easier to manipulate. This is by no means limited to women, but they certainly seem more vulnerable to it. They want you to be cautious, be prudent, be sensible, live for a thousand years, and die with no good stories because you never took risks. How much fun do you think the afterlife will be when you're surrounded by people who punched lions in the nose and got hit by anti-aircraft missiles during skydiving accidents, when all you have is "I once ate some muffins I'd spilled blueberry syrup on"?

A lot of the modern world's problems stem from people being afraid to take physical, or even social, risks, and cowering is just going to ensure nothing ever improves. Be a hero; they get better stories.

I plan on going to a concert in a super touristy area in the UK. My family is up in arms about it because I’ve never been outside of the country by myself. One of them wants to accompany me “just in case”.

Sigh

@Sorceress oh god! you are an adult!! If you can you should do it
GoFish ·
@Sorceress crime is bad in the uk right now especially in the touristy areas their fears aren't unfounded in that area imo
DHggmu · 31-35, M
@Sorceress I understand your frustration and wanting to do things, but as someone who lives in the UK, no woman is safe walking around alone here. I worry if I see a stranger walking alone it’s that bad.
TexChik · F
When people love you , they worry . All the things they fear happening to you have happened to others.

I am pretty far up the tree after 30 years of kick boxing training , still go to class every week and spar. I carry ( legally) , and my husband would still worry if I did the things you do , or insist on coming with me.

Imagine how you might feel if no one cared what happened to you ! Appreciate your family’s love and concern even though it’s aggravating . 😊

It definitely sucks that we always have to be vigilant. I’m sorry that your family puts their paranoia on you, especially when you do everything right. 🫂
Px4545 · 31-35, M
do you live in a city?
Sorceress · 22-25, F
@Px4545 No, I live in a small town. They just installed sidewalks, though

A parent will be protective, but should trust your judgment.

Don't listen to them. It will ruin your life.
