It's just a book/movie for woman with a bad sex life.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
This is a wise answer
Spoiledbrat · F
It was about way more than that. Sex played a small role in the book. It was about their relationship, his personal issues, his childhood and about exploration etc. not to mention that it was witty and well written.

@Lovelldo: The story is still fucked up. "Every womans dream'yeah right. I'd rather kill myself.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
It was horribly written actually. And the main characters just whined the entire time. It really rehashed the same thing over and over again after chapter two.
Spoiledbrat · F
It's real life and you don't have to agree with it for it to be a good book. The sex rarely went into detail enough to get someone aroused. I should know, I read it. I read it for many reasons. There is lots of books I can read if I get bored sexually if you know what I mean and fifty shades isn't one of them. @Tellica:

@Flenflyys: Did you read passed chapter 2?
Spoiledbrat · F
@Tellica: The movie could have never captured what the book did so I didn't see it.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
I read the entire first book. It's basically a man who is trying to learn to become a dominant and a woman who complains about having sex with him constantly yet has sex with him. I'm not one for chick lit trash tbh but I do like scandalous stuff and it really fell short.
Spoiledbrat · F
He isn't learning; it's what he does. @Flenflyys: I did not find it to be trashy even a little bit.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Well he sucks at it. He is unorganized because of childhood trauma and he should address that because he's a total mess. But a lot of people seem to love it so, to each their own,
Spoiledbrat · F
Unlike the others, he loves her. That is why.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
I didn't really get that from him. More of a neediness because of insecurity. Like when he followed her to her mothers place.
Spoiledbrat · F
@Tellica: You said you would rather kill yourself? She was never forced to do anything she didn't want to do. In fact, she broke it off with him at the end of the first book.
Spoiledbrat · F
@Flenflyys: I recall them having an adventure at that point and she had fun as well. I didn't get that he was insecure either. I felt that he knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Different perceptions I guess. I feel like it was written by and for someone in your age group. The way she spoke and acted wasn't a protagonist I could relate with.
Tellica · 22-25, F
Yet it's still a book for people with a weird perspective on relationships and sex.
Spoiledbrat · F
@Tellica: It's not based on a true story that I know of. Just because I read the books doesn't mean I have a "weird" perspective on sex. I just read the books and I didn't find them to be in bad taste ever. I was actually impressed and found it to be charming.
Spoiledbrat · F
I read right through it like I did the hunger games. @Lovelldo:
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
The author said it's basically her fantasy that she put to paper and nothing more. I did enjoy the hunger games more because it wasn't just a contemporary romance novel.
Spoiledbrat · F
@Flenflyys: I remember there being a comment about that by the author but I was thinking it was more of a curiousity on her part about bdsm. Its been awhile since I read it. I thought she was saying she did some research as well. I don't usually read romance myself. In fact, I can't remember the last one that I read.
