I love this trail and it pissed me off to see it looking horrible. It’s right next to a hotel which means that families like to visit it sometimes, too.
When I went there two weeks ago, it was filled with trash, including various empty bottles of alcohol, cigar packs, empty cans of bait, discarded cigarettes, fast food cups, etc. I filled 5 trash bags trying to clean that up. It was awful and unfortunately I didn’t wear any protective gear, so I found flea bites on my body later that day.
Today, I only had to fill two trash bags. It didn’t look anywhere near as bad today

I’m pretty happy with the result. It’s definitely looking better. I’ll add some details in the comments about how I dressed in case others are interested in cleaning up near them
Since I ended up with flea bites last time, I tried to be more mindful of how I dressed. Some tips are below, but if anyone has any others, please let me know :)
1) For protection against biting bugs, I wore a base layer of clothing (think long johns)
2) Then I wore another layer of outer clothing over it which I sprayed down with insect repellant
I was going to use Permethrin, but I realized that I wouldn’t have time to wait for it to fully dry on my clothes, and that would have posed a danger to breathe in :/
3) I also wore two pairs of knee high socks over my outer pants, which was probably overkill, but I don’t have protective equipment like some other people would and I was rightly paranoid after my experience last time
4) I took my outer clothes off outside the house, put them in a bag, washed everything in hot water, and jumped in the shower
I have no bites that I can see, so I think I covered all my bases :)
I did want to wear gardening gloves, since thorns slice my nylon gloves open, but our Walmart didn’t have them for some reason? Blah. I was running low on time today
