This is misinformation but I'm not trying to start anything. Ubi doesn't pay for salary at all, it's literally in the name basic universal income, most proposals for that are 1,000 monthly.
They also already have forms of ubi in other countries for awhile and found that it increased productivity in people. They even did long term studies on it.
Ubi is only for food and things to barely keep you out of poverty, 10,000 to 14,000 yearly sounds like a lot until you realize 32,000 is just like 17 hourly where most rent is super high so if you wanted to live alone, you couldn't do it off 17 hourly and even with ubi.
It just keeps you barely out of poverty but does alleviate some stress.

While ubi doesn't replace salary, the idea is to alleviate concerns like food which is a major expense. Finland has specialized ubi for certain citizens at 650 monthly for instance. And the World Economic Forum and McKinsey studies found the trial significantly improved participants' mental health and confidence.
There's also a few more countries but the money is usually between 600 to 1,600 and ubi also may have rules like for a few years only or met under certain conditions like Iran when they did it for citizens in need of fuel and bread.
Or also Wales UK which gave students 1,600 for two years.

@Roundandroundwego If wishes were horses the beggars would ride. Despite our sentimentality toward abolishing poverty our efforts in such a way never work in the long run. Sadly. I am not against helping I am simply pointing out the foolishness of such ideas as a UBI. They simply don't work because if you pay people not to work they won't work and if they won't work then nothing of value gets added which means the UBI becomes even more worthless. That is simple human nature and has nothing to do with politics.

It's either that plus a lot of other reforms or we destroy humanity and the ecosystem with financial precarity. Americans must be stopped.

@Iwillwait why not? no more worry about losing your job

@mysteryespresso True, but I'll trade the pay and the competition and worry in lieu of a flat paycheck like a socialist society.
