You're Chinese? Hmmmmmmm..... makes me curious how my neighbors live. I mean, you were my neighbor before moving to canada

I was 馃槺
SW-User
No lol! I mean, our countries are neighbors馃槤
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: ohhh 馃槀 where you from? Russia? Korea? Vietnam? Pakistan? India? Thailand? Mongolia?
SW-User
India馃槵
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: ohh. I always imagine India like the palace princess Jasmine lives in and elephants. What's India like?
SW-User
No lol. India is a fun place. But you must et used to the commotion that is there all the time. Lots of people. Lots of crowd. But it's a nice country to live in. I like it. Why are you moving out of China? I thought China was THE place to be in...
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: that's cool. India is one of the top places I want to visit on my list. China is a overall pretty good country and lot's of people too. but it really depends what you like though. Some places it's very very modern and some are like in the mountains and places like that.
I'm moving out of China mainly cause I was offered a great job opportunity here and the schools here are great.
SW-User
Oh wow. I'm happy for you. What job is it?
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: computer engineer.
SW-User
@Jackson: ah! That's cool. Indians are teeming with engineers too ...
Btw, I think that in the political space, I don't think India and China like each other very much
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: sadly, they don't like each other that much from my experience. Due to history, gossip, rumours, war and stuff like that.
SW-User
That's why I like the internet. It's possible to keep prejudices aside here.
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: exactly, I get racism a lot here in Canada because I'm Chinese.
SW-User
Oh? :O what experiences did you have with racial bias?
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: China is a poor country and most people there are beggars. Chinese people are ugly with eyes that look like a line. their hair stinks. They murder female children and sacrifice them hoping to get a male child next... and so on. it's endless and people just go like "that's not racist".

I see a lot of born in Canada Chinese children suffering through this so a lot actually even denied being Chinese afraid of being rejected and stuff like that.

Sometimes I wonder whether emmigrating is a good idea. Of course, there are great economic opportunities but.... home is home, right?
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: I agree. 馃憤 it's just the gossip rumours or only telling the part of the story and difference in culture creates a barrier between difference countries. They were told this kind of things on other countries by their parents, government ever since they were little. I guess I can't really blame them... and I kind of miss home now... i really miss ShangHai
SW-User
Hmmmm
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: Have you ever been outside of India?
SW-User
By the way, there was a Chinese exchange student in my college.... her English was rather weak. But yours is pretty good. Did you learn English in school or some special institute and how old were you when you began to learn English?
SW-User
@Jackson: yes I have. England, Italy and France. We'd gone in a holiday one summer 20 years ago
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: that's cool, I had the choice to either go to Japan, Canada, France, England or Germany for job offers.
I've learned English for roughly a year now. I've self taught for like 5 months and then I took tutoring. and now I'm also tutoring immigrant kids English.
Depends where in China she's from. China is very big most places are different when it comes to education.
SW-User
Well, her Facebook tells me she is from zhangjiakou.... one year??? That's super impressive!
That's because sometimes I wonder whether setting up an English speaking institute Herr will be a good idea. That's why I ask.
Did you follow a particular teacher? Or just read and watch English movies? And how do you teach the kids now?
Jackson26-30, M
@dreamerfrombirth: I know French and German before so English was easier for me.
My tutor was English so I guess that helped too.

I tutor children-teens right now on reading, writing, vocabulary and stuff like that. I also help some prepare for SSAT.
