Did we use social media the wrong way?

I mean, there are a lot of people near us who go unnoticed because we choose to communicate with people far away.

In the same sentiments there are people who will go out and volunteer for one thing after another and neglect the people in their family who need help. I had a sister who did that, she kept busy, busy, busy with all her volunteering so she wouldn't have to get her hands dirty helping people when they needed it the most.
