Conservatives, Liberals....how do you reconcile your values and how do your actions affect the political direction of the United States of America>?

I have been voting repub for a few election cycles now. I feel it's important to keep democrats out of power. I don't agree with much of the repub platform but I'm not worried about it because the issues we disagree on they can't do anything about anyway. That's how I reconcile it in my mind.
