you do look like that
Kawaii ยท F
not really. my skin is way darker and face is bigger and she's much skinnier and her nose is prettier.
@Kawaii: Why do you want lighter skin? You can be pretty regardless of your skin color. I'm disturbed by how much Asian cultures push the idea that lighter skin = more beautiful. It doesn't.
Kawaii ยท F
@Killers: it's the same idea as Americans want to be tan...
@Kawaii: I think you're under the assumption that I'm ethnically American. I'm actually an Asian person myself.

Your comment doesn't discredit the fact that Asia has a disturbing obsession with white skin, so much so that in places like India they treat people with darker skin significantly worse. It's not to the same caliber in the United States.

I think you look great, and I really wish you didn't base your beauty off of how "dark" you are. Your skin color looks awesome, and many lighter people would envy the color of your skin.
Kawaii ยท F
@Killers: nope I'm not.
...just giving you a comparison

I assume you probably grew up in an English speaking country so you should know about the tan = rich thing. cause it shows that your rich enough for vacations and stuff.

Same with Asian girls... pale = rich cause a long time ago rich family gets to have maids and usually don't have to work under the sun for hours like farmers daughter or wife (which makes them tan) so that is a sign of rich.

@Killers: and it's mostly only famous in Korea the ulzzang face.
@Kawaii: Yeah, and that's a bad thing, and you really should dispel that from your mindset. People don't really associate tan with rich anymore, that's a pretty archaic idea nowadays.
@Kawaii: Trust me, it's not just famous in Korea. If you looked at the Indian caste system or you looked at many Asian countries with whitening creams being advertised and sold everywhere you would disagree.
Kawaii ยท F
@Killers: of course it sold a lot ๐Ÿคฆ I mean who doesn't want to look like their favourite celebrity... and Korea just has a VERY VERY VERY BIG entertainment thing... and tons of girls in Asia wants to look like them... but then again no, most Asian aren't obsessed with pale skin...
@Kawaii: What are you trying to say? It's still wrong, regardless of how popular the practice is. The popularity of the practice is in itself the problem.

The fact that people hold lighter skin on a pedestal in the form of celebrities is also an issue. Celebrities in Asian countries tend to be ill-representations of the actual people living in the countries (they tend to be lighter than the average person in that particular country). We have the same problem in America, where people of darker skin are wholly underrepresented in media. The fact that most celebrities are lighter, and thus people strive to look like them, is part of the problem.

Also, you would be incorrect to say that "most Asians aren't obsessed with pale skin". Many of them are. Like I said, research the Indian caste system. This stuff is literally institutionalized, and it's toxic.

My point is, you really shouldn't feel bad that your skin is darker than that of the ladies in these pictures. I'm actually sad that people who appear to be fairly young, like you (and even me), have these ideas ingrained in their heads that any other skin color besides your own is more desirable. I've considered that idea myself sometimes.

In all honesty, many people might find you even more attractive than the women in these pictures that you posted.

@Killers: I guess it really depends how you see it...
it's just a personal preference of things.
it's just like some people prefer straight hair some prefer wavy and some prefer curly.
@Kawaii: Hair is different from skin color. Disliking your own skin color suggests a far more deeper rooted issue than liking a different hairstyle does.
Kawaii ยท F
@Killers: they never dislike at least normal people don't...
it's just a trend and what they prefer. and most of them are naturally pale... ๐Ÿ˜‘
like I said it really depends on how you see it.
@Kawaii: If you "prefer" something more than that means you have some level of dislike for the other options. It goes hand in hand.
@Kawaii: I don't think we're going to agree on this anytime soon. Might as well stop while we're ahead. Let's agree to disagree.
Kawaii ยท F
@Killers: I personally don't think you should come to the conclusion that they don't like their skin colour just because they like another tone better.

if a parent has a favourite child does that mean he or she hates the other children he or she have?
Kawaii ยท F
@Killers: โœŒ
@Kawaii: It's not a conclusion, it's the English language. If you like something more, you have to, to some extent, dislike the other options for one reason or another. I never said "hate", by the way, I said "dislike" so your little analogy doesn't work.

If a parent has a favorite child (which is a horrible thing to do, by the way), then that means for one reason or another they dislike some characteristic about their other children (that doesn't mean they hate them, of course). Also, disliking other people can't really be compared to disliking a trait about yourself, so I don't know why you brought up that analogy.
