Unrelated Thoughts: A Poem

They say violence doesn’t solve things—
but sometimes,
it totally does.

It’s not smart
to dismiss it outright,
not when the world demands
you know when to strike,
how to strike,
why.

I am not good
at violence.
It slips through me
like water through open hands—
a thing I never held right,
never wanted to.

Still,
I think about it.
Sometimes.
Like lunch.
Like hunger.
Like a dog,
warm
and heavy
on my chest.
