Does it seem like young people today are far more materialistic than they were a few decades back?

In the 1970s I don't remember 20-somethings so preoccupied with "things" and acquiring "things." Today, you can go to the Internet, to Amazon, to countless commercial sites, just press a button and a few days later the "thing" is at your doorstep.

Not really. I feel this materialism began with technology and the the first days of the Walkman.

I think there has been a trend in that direction.
