Is someone really your best friend if you can't trust them? I think not!

Perhaps, though you may not trust them fully. My friend of 38 years has lied to me numerous times, so I just limit the amount of information I share with him. I used to call him my best friend but after his last lie we stopped speaking for over a year. I certainly wouldn't count on him to rescue me if I was in trouble.

Wow you have a more forgiving heart than most. Lies are lies and it's so hard to get past them especially when they impact the heart and feelings.
@OWise1: I agree with you. Sometimes you realize with all that you've shared over the years you can let some things go. Life is too short. Those lies weren't earth shattering, but do affect your level of trust.

@DreamyCrush: Well lies regarding other people whom they are cheating with is a tough one to forgive and let bygones be bygones.
@OWise1: I don't disagree. Someone who betrays you in that way really wasn't a friend to begin with and you should definitely cut all ties.

Lying about whether or not you went to a party, or when you're coming to fix the sink are totally different, unnecessary lies.
