Do you ever stop to appreciate what an overwhelmingly successful life form humans are?

kind of depends how you define successful

Our population has been skyrocketing. We live on almost every continent on the planet. We control territory and resources in a way nothing else ever has.
We are THE apex predator.

That's how i define success

@UnparalleledMonster: that's nice for you, but strikes me as incredibly shortsighted. Will we last as apex predators as long as the dinosaurs did?

or consider the parallel between humans: biosphere and parasites:host

@firefall:

Who cares about short sighted? That has nothing to do with current success. And when you say "dinosaur" that's really more like saying mammal. But if you want to get specific then the tyrannosauroidea were highly successful. Spanned the norther hemisphere, dominant in virtually every territory they occupied. The large members of the family stayed on top for a few million years.

Will humans last that long? Who knows. But for now we are crushing it.

was that whooshing sound, the goalposts getting shifted?

OK, thanks, it's clear you're not worth talking to
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@firefall:

I'm not sure why you feel i was shifting the goalposts.
How have i done that?

We are discussing whether or not humans are a successful species. You introduced the idea of short sitedness which seems to me to be irrelevant.
If you disagree then explain yourself.

But if you're just claiming goal shifting so that you can save face and flee the conversation then i must agree that you're not worth talking to.

Your move.
