what do you think of a kid who when given a new phone for his birthday, complains that it isn't an iphone?

When the kids parents payed what they could for a good smartphone he could use. They are greeted with " but it's not an iphone "

I'd have a hard time even trying to relate to a kid or anyone with that bratty and self centered a mindset. My response would be to just take it back and not activate it.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. If my kid did that and I didn't feel like I could give him the environment needed for him to mature, I'd send the little shit to military school.

oh yes, but the lack of gratitude for a gift is just so wrong

I don't know.. My kid is 9 and he's smart enough to know iPhones suck. And if I bought him on he's think I hated him😭

They should be better at parenting? They've obviously allowed him to get into the mindset of a spoilt little brat.

@JaggedLittlePill: You say these words. Critical point. Mindset. Authority. By the time I was five I knew that I needed to share. I knew that you should be grateful for any gift you are given. So, I wonder what the difference between myself at a younger age and your son is? The environment. The parents. Children start learning far before eleven. It is foolish to believe that the age eleven is when it becomes critical. If you're only trying to teach him such lessons now than you have bigger promblems than my 'blanket statements'.

@LittleMystery: oh you must be a genius then. Spare me.

I happen to have studied child psychology as part of my Early Childhood Education major. So..just pointing out I have some background in the words I speak..not anecdotal bs.

P.s. saying that the age of 11 is a critical point does not mean there is not teaching before hand.

Take it back and get your money back

Take it back and say "Oh I'm so sorry about this." and then keep the phone and don't replace it.
MrJohnson4 · 41-45, M
haha yep good way to deal with it
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrJohnson4: Don't know how old that child is but think they could benefit greatly by getting a job and earning the money for buying their own Iphone and monthly payments.

Should be happy to have a phone, if I had young kids they would get a phone with more spyware than the russians put on the DNC the way the world is unsafe these days.
