Why do people talk on the phone in restaurants??

Okay, I am a teenager so I get that this generation is obsessed with technology but at a freaking restaraunt? I was just at this Korean restaurant tonight and this family next to us was full on talking on their phones TO EACHOTHER when they were opposite eachother? I think socialising has hit rock bottom. RIP.

Taking advantage of their unlimited phone plan I imagine....seriously though I was working as a greeter in a Walmart store in 2011 and saw an entire family of 4 (parents and two teens)...they had a glazed expression in their eyes and each had a phone in their hand, the parents were talking on theirs and the teens were texting as they walked in....thought that was strange but when they left about 20 minutes later they were still doing the same thing. It was creepy.
