If a couple lets you watch them do it, is it inappropropriate to start to pleasure yourself if you don't ask for the couple's permission first?

If you are invited as a paid photographer, then certainly inappropriate.
But if you are a friend, just go ahead. They asked for it 😀.
And if you have to ask, ask if you can join in 😜
