Why do people sometimes as they age tend to not take good care of themselves?

It seems many people give up on their personal appearance as they age. But why? Do you think it's due to not feeling well, depression, or what?

As people get old they are no longer able to work out and keep their bodies in shape. I used to run every day and loved it. It got to the point I just couldn't do it anymore. It was to painful. I am a very clean person take several showers a day so I think their is no excuse for being dirty and stinky. And if you watch what you eat their is no excuse for being gross and fat. However their are people who suffer from things like diabetes and other not so fun diseases that can't do any thing about it. So I would say the whole being in shape and having the perfect body is a young person s thing. When you get old it no longer matters at all. You realize what is really important.

I see the validity in what you are saying. However, I think good health is important regardless of age and we all should be aware of moderation to avoid potential health problems.

@OWise1: absolutely! I agree .... may I also say I think people as they get older realize more truths! about life. Do you understand what I mean? The more truth you learn the more depressed it makes you. I sometimes think this may be the cause of death for some people. When you wake up one day a realize the total truth about the world we live in.
