I can’t reply to @PirateMonkeyCabinet under the comment you made. It says the message was deleted but it doesn’t say you deleted it.
@iamonfire696 yup. there's something going on here. I never deleted anyone's post. I am innocent
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@mysteryespresso I didn’t think you did because it said “this post has been deleted”.

Me thinks that admin don’t like people expressing their hate for the changes they have made.
@iamonfire696 I don't know what's going on really.
PirateMonkeyCabinet · 36-40, M
@mysteryespresso @iamonfire696 Not sure if this will even reach you, but if it does there is a chance it will quickly disappear. What is happening is quite simple: admin is censoring me. Plain and simple. I have not deleted anything, nor have anyone else. Admins have simply made my replies invisible to other people.

@PirateMonkeyCabinet that’s crazy that you can see your replies and I don’t see them . I see “this message has been deleted”. Can you screenshot and post it here so we can see what you see.
PirateMonkeyCabinet · 36-40, M
@iamonfire696 If I post a screenshot it will 100% lead to this chain of replies being hidden by them (which may happen anyway) as well.

It's a shady technique that is used by other sites as well. The point is to make the "problematic" user think that other people can see their posts (while in reality they can not) giving the impression that other people just deem their posts boring/uninteresting and ignore them, thus making the user think they don't have an audience and therefore leave on their own volition without causing a ruckus.

Kind of a deceitful way of punishing and banning someone.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@PirateMonkeyCabinet It really is. I am sorry this is happening to you.
PirateMonkeyCabinet · 36-40, M
@iamonfire696 Thank you! They'll probably not ever back down when it comes to me as I've bruised their egos too much and am "too dangerous". Hopefully though it will - in one way or the other - lead to other people eventually being heard and treated with respect instead of the condescending way they treat users now.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@PirateMonkeyCabinet Well if the competing site gets going then they will be screwed because people will leave for that site.
@iamonfire696 @ChemDawg do you think a competing site could come up anytime soon to replace sw ? @PirateMonkeyCabinet
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@mysteryespresso I hope so
PirateMonkeyCabinet · 36-40, M
@iamonfire696 I am indeed hoping that gets off the ground. Obviously it won't be the same (that's part of the point), but hopefully it will be similar enough to scratch the same itch for me.

I'm not entirely sure SW will be screwed. For some people this site actually works decently. Someone shared stats about their feed with me and their feed was an entirely different beast than mine. It had a somewhat reasonable amount of posts. They also have their fans, as well as people who are just disinterested in looking at alternatives. So I'm sure even with an alternative they'll still have a fair amount of people here.

However, if that site turns out to be a viable alternative (which I am in no way doubting it will be - I have faith) then I still think there will be a notable exodus, particularly of the old guard here and some of the more active people. I doubt it will hurt their bottom line too much though; a good chunk of the people who would be willing to leave have already pledged to not renew their VIPs. That money was already gone. And there will be less critical voices towards their antics so they can pull off more of their negative changes with less backlash.

@PirateMonkeyCabinet Quite a few users have been leaving because of their dissatisfaction and they have no where to go.

I think this site was really good at one point but it just seems to be going down hill and confirming to every other social media site. That’s what made SW unique!!!
PirateMonkeyCabinet · 36-40, M
@ChemDawg If only I had the patience and energy to take on a task like that I'd offer my services. But yeah, as much as I hate waiting, like all development projects it's better when it ain't rushed.

Hope the DLC release goes well. You on the developer or the publisher side of things (or both)?

@iamonfire696 Aye, there have been a lot of users lately, but to be fair I think it may seem more than it is because of who has left. It's still a notable amount, unhealthy levels of people leaving no doubt, but where as if some people leave it would probably go unnoticed by most, lately it has been the ones that a lot of people recognize and the ones that people do take note of leaving. It's the fact that people who were supporters of the site and the staff are leaving.

@ChemDawg Cool. I do believe I have a some of your company's games in my Steam library, but haven't gotten around to them yet. Suffering from the standard issue of my library being too big and the list of games to try is stupid long. 😂
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@PirateMonkeyCabinet they don’t wanna listen to us though. Guess it will take the failure of the site to get it
