I still don't understand why cheating on someone should ever be forgiven..

Idk why but this randomly popped in my head today 🤷‍♂️🤣

They don't deserve it, but neither did we when Jesus forgave us.

Thing is, forgiving someone serves three purposes that I can think of:

1. If someone is truly repentative for cheating, has apologized and vows to never do it again, I think sometimes maybe they just weren't thinking straight and needed to mature, grow up in life. I could see them grieving over their foolish mistake. Then I think we should forgive them. We all make mistakes. However, it's up to the one who was cheated on, whether or not they want to give that person another chance or not. I personally would not care to. Just because we forgive, doesn't mean that person is for us, or that we'll want to be friends with them.

2. Forgiving brings us closure and helps us move on in a better way.

3. Forgiveness helps US heal better. Carrying around hate and unforgiveness, is like drinking poison each day. It damages our Spirit and destroys our body. Healing also takes longer and it's more painful. Hate and resentment Wars against the mind, as well. Not worth it.

Forgiveness is more for our benefit, than theirs. It's not excusing what they did or saying that was "okay". It's not.
