I still don't understand why cheating on someone should ever be forgiven..

I’ve only seen it come up when the couple’s so integrated that separating would cause financial hardship and insufficient support, or they’re hoping to work through it for the kids.

In other cases it’s just that someone in the relationship has really low self-esteem and they’ve not yet accepted there are other better options.
