Is black history and culture so fragile

that Hollywood have to blackwash white History now and try to rewrite it to match their views of forced inclusion and diversity? Not everything in the world especially History will cater to this new forced diversity and feelings above facts bullshit we currently have forced upon us.
Vikings Valhalla on netflix is a clear example of this now. I am over the race and gender swaps when these morons who make that type of shit claim it is historically accurate.

If those hollywood dipshits want shows on black culture or any certain race culture, go make a show on that. Dont try and rewrite history for this bullshit

Even though it hurts you to see black people in an inaccurate (I don’t know if it is or isn’t) documentary isn’t it worth it if it helps black children to feel not alienated. They just want to feel part of the group what’s wrong with that.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle no it doesnt help anyone. People do not always need to feel included especially when history is concerned and rewriting it does way more damage compared to not coddling people and their feelings.
Should they make a movie on Malcolm X and make him Chinese so that Chinese people feel included?
History is History and can not change. It is insulting to peoples cultures and if people are to make anything on it, there should be some respect there for it
Carlisle · F
@Torsten a few black people in a documentary that could help black children feel less isolated and less inclined to have mental health problems
Is insulting?
Pride Culture history it’s not being threatened here.
If they are just extras or such what’s the big deal.
Carlisle · F
@Torsten and let’s say you remove them will that help people and communities to feel more together?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle it wasnt just a extra it was a main character who race and gender swapped a real historical figure. Screw peoples feelings when it comes to culture and history
@Carlisle Convincing black children that they need to be included everywhere is going to make the black culture weaker.
Carlisle · F
@Torsten was it fictional? And no I don’t think we should be screwing the feelings of any minorities.
Granted there are better ways of handling situations but your defensiveness and anger doesn’t help anyone feel more included.
Carlisle · F
@SinlessOnslaught I’m sorry but that is not what I said and you know it.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle historically accurate is how they marketed it.
When history and culture is concerned feelings do not matter what so ever. The people whose culture has been changed and warped to make others feel included, were not thought of were they? Its always about making POC feel better at the cost of others because deep down you all think of them as weak
@Carlisle I think that is what you said.
Carlisle · F
@Torsten ok so your saying that it wasn’t fictional.
That makes sense.
It seems like they were included for a reason. Those reasons may need to be looked at. Who and why those decisions were made.
There are ways to make people from minority communities feel more inclusive without changing documented history.
But if you look back at how much of history is actually accurate that’s a whole other subject.
And if your focusing on the accuracy of history because you are passionate about it then I hope it is something you question all the time in every aspect.
Like for example Christopher Columbus or the native Americans.

History isn’t always accurate
And the fact that your focusing in on black people who may have been put in there inaccuracy doesn’t look good.
You are well within your rights to demand accurate history. But I hope your focus isn’t only on spotting the black dude where he shouldn’t be.

On a separate note.
I really think you could try to get your voice heard if you spoke to the right people within I don’t know your local governing or MP. Not sure how the system works there.
Carlisle · F
@SinlessOnslaught no what I said is written in my comment. And I stand by what I said.
@Carlisle
it helps black children to feel not alienated
That's convincing black children that they need to be included everywhere.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle not everything has to be about diversity and inclusion. I dont get this mind frame people have now or this weird mind frame that people can only relate to others if they have the same skin color. It is just stupid.

There is no good reason to race and gender swap historical figures. none at all.

But hey maybe they can make a movie on Hitler and make him Black trans women. Or martin Luther King and make him a non binary Indian. i assume you would not support those though right?
Carlisle · F
@SinlessOnslaught I stand by what I said.
Carlisle · F
@Torsten well I agree. Not everything has to be about that.
Some things are though about that.
The only thing I can think of that is coming to me right now is.
Being gay was a crime not that long ago.
And some of the older generation still use terms and references that maybe innocently said but are outdated.

But we as people can’t stop progress and trying to coexist because of outdated thought processes.

You will have to tell me the name of the documentary I would like to check it out.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle it isnt a documentary It is a tv series based on History. Its called Vikings Valhalla and its garbage basically.

Yes people did some real shitty things to people in the past and that should not be forgotten or rewrote to make people feel good now. You erase the past, you are doomed to repeat it. We learn from History and grow from it. It should never be changed and cultures should be respected
Carlisle · F
@Torsten honestly if it’s fictional I would just let it go.
I watched Bridgerton the other day and saw some black people in there.
I didn’t feel threatened by it. Nor do people feel like it’s inaccurate.
Because the truth is it’s not like black people didn’t exist in the past they did. And some writer or producer or whoever decided to include some in an effort to help young black kids or any minorities to feel included then I think you shouldn’t feel threatened by it.
In fact you should feel proud of the fact that you may change the lives of some little kids.

There are things on this topic of colour. Like for example when the statue was damaged etc that I disagree with.

I didn’t like the statue but damaging property is not cool.
Pulling a statue down or not wanting black people in a fictional drama
To me both come across as angry and petty.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@Carlisle there are plenty of historical figures & settings for poc to use without culturally appropriating historically all white societies...

forcing this fairytale of racial diversity only creates more tension and hostility towards poc
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle its non fiction supposedly. Yes they changed things to make it more over dramatic and the stuff hollywood does but when you portray something as historically accurate at least get the historical figures correct
Carlisle · F
@Torsten ye they do that with so many things.
I googled it. It’s a drama.
The crown was bs.
They made Princess Di look like an idiot.
Her brother came on TV and was nearly in tears because of the bs.

If it’s a drama I would just let it go.
But I understand what you mean by factual history remaining true.
Whatever true means as not all histories are true.

Anyway no hard feelings
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle It doesnt just annoy me with white culture btw. It annoys me with anyones culture or any historical figures race or gender swapped
Carlisle · F
@Torsten that’s ok.
Why this is being done doesn’t seem harmful.
I would question it if there was a factual documentary with a black JFK.

On this fictional stuff though because I come from a minority group it seems like it may have a beneficial affect on the lives of many young children which is hard to understand if you are the majority.

Little things like that make me happy. Who doesn’t want happy kids growing up to be healthy adults.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle Again why do people need to feel represented in everything now or that you can only relate to others who have the same skin color?
There is no reason to rewrite history if advertised as Historical accurate. If you want to see something that better represents your own culture or history, there is plenty of that out there or they should make new things on it. Dont change others culture and history to make some feel good or whatever. It is a spit in the face to those whose culture has been changed and warped for diversity
Carlisle · F
@Torsten I feel like I maybe repeating myself.
For the above reasons I gave earlier.
You clearly have not understood what I have said.
You are angry about a fictional boogeyman that is out to get your culture and history.

I will exit.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carlisle so you would not be annoyed if your culture was changed in Hollywood and misrepresented to make a small group of people maybe happy and feel represented maybe?
