Speaking of that, what is the point of buying expensive clothes for small children?

They'll just grow right out of them! It would be smarter to have them wear a collection of rags and potato sacks until they're grown to the point where their growth is more steady and less sporadic.

My mother has a saying. If you can afford to buy it for you (the parent), then you can afford to buy it for your child too. If you like and can afford name brand clothes (which I do) then your child should NOT look like you got their clothes from the Salvation Army!!

@malaki11 I get the sentiment to a point but you've got to temper it with practicality.

No way I'm buying Colombia jackets for a kid who is going to only be able to wear it for like 2 months.

@Eternity That's why you don't buy them clothes to fit just now. Buy a few sizes larger and let them grow into and out of them.

@malaki11 My niece can walk into any mall store around here and buy what she wants but she gets name brands at consignment stores , thrift stores and yard sales in very good almost new condition for a fraction of what they sell for at the mall and when the children outgrow them she has her own yard sales and resells them. She’s using good sense to save money. She also buys her own stuff the same way.
