Tbh i feel that GMO's get an unreasonably bad rep, but i can totally see why at first glance. The idea of something engineered like that in products does sounds a bit scary. But when looking into it, it seems there are no harmful effects, and an incredible potential. GMO can alter almost any aspect of the plant, but most of the improvements are documented, and are reasonable and generaly helps the plant stay alive as well.
With a small crop of say potatoes, heavily improved for more nutrion, minerals and even caloric intake, you might feed a whole village, compared to a much larger unaugmented crop, that would do the same.
