I almost never see snow

@Royrogers We had about two inches of the stuff, several years ago, and it lingered for a week. I lived at the time on a hill, and though the main roads were soon passable with care, the estate's car-parks and streets became sloping sheets of ice treacherous even for walking on, let alone driving.
I still had to go to work, some twelve miles away, but was able to do so by train. My home railway-station was about ten minutes' walk away (nearer twenty in those conditions); but my work much further from its station, along pavements covered with very irregular ice.
