Liberals and their damned love for Mexicans!

My partner's mom once again lamenting that if Trump had been able to finish his wall it would have prevented "the flood of Mexican wetbacks coming into the U.S who just want handouts of money, food stamps, unemployment benefits, and free health care" she has to pay taxes for.

I try to keep my cool but damn! I worked for the state of North Dakota for nearly 30 years. I knew many owners of independent family farms. The struggle of them trying to compete with corporate farms and how they resented having supported Trump because some of his policies nearly drove them bankrupt especially the seasons where Mexican migrant workers came to a slow down during planting and harvest.

"Patty" complains, "They come to the U.S and take away jobs Americans need" this is total BS, just ask any Job service agency in any midwestern town how many Americans apply for farm fieldwork? You would likely just get a laugh. It's hard enough getting Americans to flip burgers in states like North Dakota let alone for them to dirty their hands in a potato or cornfield especially at the national minimum wage.

If you had to pay migrant workers what Americans expect a 5lb. bag of potatoes would become a luxury item most of us can't afford.

Historically, in the American farm belt farmers have done everything they can to entice and keep Mexican workers happy and eager to return the following season. Many offer free housing and other little perks to maintain a mutually happy relationship. In the little town I worked we had several Migrant and year round locals free street dances, kegs of beer and a great time for everyone. Sometimes there would be huge feasts on the edge of a sweet corn field, fresh- picked corn on the cob, barbeque, games for the kids, Mexican bands played from dusk till dawn. It kept everyone happy and ensured the farm family would have a profitable year.

As far a the complaint of Mexicans coming here for the free healthcare I told Patty to visit ANY border town in the U.S. and see the Mexican side of the border lined with one Farmacia after another. Thousands of Americans (Many of them seniors) gladly drive the distance because they cannot afford to buy their medications in America.

This also includes much more affordable dental care and many elective surgeries too expensive in the U.S.A.

Before people make assumptions and spread untrue stories they read on Facebook or hear on Newsmax, they should educate themselves the true and beautiful relationship we actually do have with these wonderful people and their lovely country. These are NOT rapist and drug dealers, they are more like us than they are different.

Thanks for the few minutes of venting. 🥰
If anything Canada and the USA have been taking advantage of Mexicans desperate for work.
@AmbivalentFriability *Sighs* I realize this but at least it does help them out somewhat.
I have my estate care done by an Immigrant family, this year I hurt my knee and they refused to take payment for the whole summer because they knew I was hurt.

This Christmas who showed up with gifts for my kids and arguably the best food I've had in years? yes, the Munoz family.

There is a large segment of the US population that could take a lesson or fifty about how to take care of each other.
@SHREKPage I hope so. My dream is to spend my last years in Puerto Vallarta I follow A couple of Ex.Pats there (On YouTube) I need to hear the rise and fall of ocean waves, breath the fresh, salt air' among some of the most lovely people on this planet.
@Grateful4you A patent attorney I know retired early in La Paz...good living.
@SHREKPage My needs are simple. the aforementioned ocean and two cats in the window.

i only know a little of it! but it seems restricting travel was the problem in the first place. drugs will always come in! but when people could enter and leave as they please they could work in america and live in mexico giving their life a boost in mexico, but at some point it was stopped! so people could come in but not get out! creating the problem in the first place
@popmol Thank you Liam. And Happy New year!

So well said. Thank you. And shame on whoever downvoted you!
@ServantOfTheGoddess They did? How tragic for me. I should make it worthwhile by hurling myself to the floor, gnashing my teeth sobbing. Imma Pisces, drama comes easy.
