The lost art of Sending Christmas Cards

I remember as a child my parents receiving dozens of Christmas cards every year. Some with a letter detailing the highlights of that families year, some with photos, and some with so much glitter we left it in the envelope.

The past few years the only card I get is from my Cat's Vet.

It is just me or are Christmas cards a thing of the past?

P.S. I still send cards, just don't get many .

Today, I tried to send a card to my friend in Australia. I promised her I'd send one. I got told Australia isn't allowing them, unless I wish to send it express... at about $50-$60. I am told it's because of covid, but wouldn't that mean price is not the issue?
I am going to see if there is some other way to make her Christmas a little better.
It's been a good day, but this really makes me sad.

@SW-User I heard they're banning Santa as he could spread covid.
Well that's next😂

@Virgo79 I seriously didn't realize I wouldn't be able to send a card. And why is express okay but nothing else for mail?
So tired of this already... It's a card and it doesn't cough or sneeze.

@SW-User everyone has to capitalize in a crisis, no matter who it hurts.

@Virgo79 I'm sorry, but I have to wonder what else is going on that I should really know about.
I'm working on a new way to send a friend some smiles. I think I will go brush up on making my own kind of cards on internet. Ones you don't lose after a few weeks and ones with personal pictures and all.

@SW-User just seems everyone is out to extort people out of money these days.

@SW-User Not sure if it's correct but I think I saw that the US Postal service was refusing to send airmail to Australia and several other countries because of the lack of capacity in air transport. Apparently a lot of such traffic goes on passenger aircraft and of course many of them are not flying just now.

@ninalanyon Not sure...I only know I was told it was because of covid, but...could send it still if I wished to pay the price.
