Time to reform the NHS?
Two decades ago, it was easier to claim that the British healthcare system’s only problem was simply not enough money. But if more cash really was the answer, Britain would surely have the best healthcare system in Europe, if not the world — given current levels of state spending. Instead, the problems are building.
The fact is the whole NHS system needs taking apart and refashioning. But the political fallout over that would be too great for any government. Like knocking down a national shrine.
