I wish today was happier

Today my gpa bought a bunch of flowers and we all drove around to the cemeteries and put them on veteran's graves. I could tell gpa wanted to cry a few times. We listened to some of his stories while we drove around. It was interesting but sad at the same time. I got watery eyes when gpa told us that someday we'll be putting flowers on his grave. I don't want to think about that 😥 After today I think I'm going to bed early tonight. Happy veteran's day everybody and thank you to all veterans ❤❤❤

Thats a hard one. My dad and grandpa (both vets) were walking by a baby nursery in the hosp after my grandpa's last heartattack, and he told my dad those were the replacements. A year later he passed away. I was in 5th grade and remember everything about that time. A year later his wife, my grandma passed - i think of a broken heart. I would visit their grave when I was visiting my dad.

In 2008, my dad passed. My mom's still alive and she knows the replacement story. Someday this vet will be history also, hopefully my kids will visit and do the same.
