Melancholy perhaps. If it consumes. And then I was also thinking of worry... but is that an emotion or an action?...

I think it's both. Actually, all emotions might be considered an action. Not an external action committed by a person necessarily, but an action of the brain and the neurochemicals swimming around inside of it

@HalfCactus: True. I guess they all start out as internal actions in the mind and physiologically, and then may or may not lead to actual external actions. But I guess thoughts themselves are actions of a sort too, and if you get lost in your thoughts as melancholy and worry are inclined to do, it can be pretty debilitating. Which is why I kind of chose them as the most destructive, self-destructive, I guess. Sorry for the blather of words... I tend to overthink things.

@Fallacious: It makes perfect sense from that perspective. I enjoyed reading it nonetheless, so I'm glad you overthought this. I've experienced quite a bit of both, so I can definitely see why you would choose them
