Imperialism and colonisation

dancingtongue · 80-89, M
Certainly imperialism and colonization played a role as it did for Spanish and French. But what pushed English to the forefront was commercialism and the industrial revolution, which made it the primary language of business. English is the most common language in ports, both sea and air traffic control. It is considered the most "living language", constantly adapting and borrowing from other languages.
