Do you think the modern civilization has failed in providing a dignified life

To the human race? Like humans don't have to beg for dignity and the basic necessities of life like food clothing and shelter?

Was the earlier civilization better than the current one?
BlueVeins · 22-25
The twenty-first century has provided a huge chunk of humanity with the greatest standards of wealth, health, and personal liberty that's ever existed, anywhere. The benefits of this prosperity have been distributed unfairly, but let's not kid ourselves about the fact that the changes we've seen for human welfare have been incredibly positive.
@BlueVeins thank you 😊 here or inbox?

@BlackUnicorn inbox or your own post. i don't wanna clog up this comments section with stuff that's not relevant to the OP.
@BlueVeins ok great I’ll tag you in my post
I think modern civilisation is ok but there are many failures.
Healthcare is crap. Housing is crap.
Help for vulnerable people with mental health needs to be better
Help for single mothers needs to be better
Help for victims of abuse and violence needs to better.
Help for senior vulnerable citizens needs to be better.
Help for any vulnerable person to get them safe, housed, access to healthcare and the opportunity to live a life with dignity could be a lot better.

@BlackUnicorn yes all the above is failures
It depends on your individual subjective experiences. Those with privilege power and money, seem to have a positive experience. But if one is low class, when is unlikely to have an equivalent circumstance
@plaguewatcher sometimes low class just seems like another word for people with mental health.
I don’t think anyone chooses to be low class. Although mental health is a tricky area.
@BlackUnicorn It is hard to be sane in an insane world. I don’t like the term low class, I only use it as an indicator of physical status. I do not equate physical status, with human value. Many wonderful and value people are underpaid everywhere, meanwhile folks get vast amount of money for doing nothing useful

I think inequity has always been a part of the human experience. Just like it is in the animal kingdom. The 'weak' are dismissed in lieu of the 'strong.'
@Ynotisay True, but it’s funny how strength is assessed differently in the human world. Society would be run by athletes if it weren’t.
Ynotisay · M
@bijouxbroussard Yeah. But 'strength' takes on a different meanings when it comes to behavior. Intelligent animals can fare better than strong animals in the wild. Just like with people.

Things have become more and more evil, more and more controlled by government, less and less individual thought. The world is about as bad right now as it has ever been and it is only getting worse

Modern civilization began it's downfall with the personal computer and mobile phones. They had/have a negative impact on family life.
mysoulsays · 36-40, M
@TeenAngel Agree, there's wasn't any social media shit because they didn't need it, they were always connected and communicated, nowadays even social media doesn't help, where's the fcking life???
Viper · M
Meh, they all have their faults and there is no way to make it perfect nor fair.
PhaqueYou · M
Nope.

You're seeing the world indirectly.

Therefore you can't assess it accordingly.
Well…since the human race created it…what do you think?
walabby · 61-69, M
Which earlier civilization? There were a plethora...
mysoulsays · 36-40, M
@walabby Lets take the Roman civilization
walabby · 61-69, M
@mysoulsays There's a lot less direct slavery now. Slavery wasn't very dignified. Famines occur less often, especially in Italy. Healthcare was basically non-existent then...
On the other hand there are far too many people in the world today, depleting resources, and too dependent on technology. There will be a correction one day...
In my country, I don’t really see it being worse. Some things were just better for some people. Which is basically the situation now.
Indeed it was and evidently so. If we were all born equal it wouldn't have. The earliest civilizations had a basic life, that of survival.
