Who remembers doing PE with bare feet?

I remember the days when we had to take our shoes and socks off in pe lessons and dance. We would have to change into our pe kits and then take our socks off and walk to the gymnasium in bare feet. The soles of my feet would stick and peel off the vinyl floors satisfactorily. We would then spent the whole lesson in bare feet balancing, doing routines. Everyone in the class got used to seeing eachothers feet, there was no hiding, our heels soles and toes were all on show and our classmates would often glance at eachothers feet. It was strange to think that someone else had seen the bottoms of my feet and my 10 piggies sitting on top. We would often be encouraged to flex our toes which must have looked funny.

I can't remember what we wore for the Infants' School equivalent, which I think used a BBC radio schools-service programme (probably on the Home Service) called something like Music and Movement.

However it was always in plimsolls in both junior and senior schools for me, and seeing all these bare feet posts rather surprised me.
