Veronica Wolski, at the center of ivermectin firestorm, dies of COVID-19 infection

Veronica Wolski, the QAnon adherent whose recent hospitalization made her a cause celebre for the controversial medication ivermectin, died in the intensive care unit of AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center early Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said. She was 64.

Wolski’s cause of death was pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection with hypothyroidism as a contributing factor, a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office said Monday morning. The manner of death was natural.

For more than a week, her supporters had besieged Resurrection with demands that Wolski be given ivermectin. The medication is typically used to treat diseases caused by parasitic worms, but has been hailed as a COVID-19 cure by some despite a lack of definitive scientific proof or government authorization.

How the hell is ivermectin a right wing talking point? What a weird world.

Anyways the two major studies that support it as a covid treatment are bunk and were withdrawn. The Elgazzar study for example included a ton plagiarized material and was riddled with errors about the patient sample.

There is no reliable evidence this drug works for covid.

People are DESPERATE to find a miracle cure for this disease, and it leads people to do unethical stuff. The only evidence ivermectin can affect covid shows it needs to be in such massive doses it is of no help to us.

If you believe ivermectin is a miracle cure, SOMEONE IS LYING TO YOU FOR MONEY.

@CountScrofula Not much money in Ivermectin,literally pennies a dose...also a man does a study puts it online,knowing theere are statistical errors a dull high schooler could find?
I think it was suggested they were hacked.
Numerous smaller studies but without Big Pharma the great cost of running a double blind study not likely

@bookerdana It's not in the sale of the medicine, it's in the sale of the information about the medicine. Same with hydroxychloroquine which everyone seems to have magically forgotten.

This stuff gets repeated because people get agitated and worked up and keep returning to their sources.

Tucker Carlson doesn't care if ivermectin works, he cares that people watch his show.

No evidence for that, and furthermore it ignores proper studies that have demonstrated ivermectin is poor treatment for covid. The kindest thing you can say is 'the jury is out' not 'this is a miracle cure get it at all costs'.

@CountScrofula I haven't forgotten hydroxychloroquine or the bleach debacle,and TC ,to be kind is a joke however the studies in Third World all come out about % positive results..you will never see a double blind study for a generic pennies per dose drug
