Veronica Wolski, at the center of ivermectin firestorm, dies of COVID-19 infection

Veronica Wolski, the QAnon adherent whose recent hospitalization made her a cause celebre for the controversial medication ivermectin, died in the intensive care unit of AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center early Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said. She was 64.

Wolski’s cause of death was pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection with hypothyroidism as a contributing factor, a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office said Monday morning. The manner of death was natural.

For more than a week, her supporters had besieged Resurrection with demands that Wolski be given ivermectin. The medication is typically used to treat diseases caused by parasitic worms, but has been hailed as a COVID-19 cure by some despite a lack of definitive scientific proof or government authorization.

@bookerdana Right, when prescribed as an Anti Parasitic medication by an MD, not for combating viruses as what most Americans are taking is what they're buying at Animal feed stores. I seriously doubt any MD would prescribe an Anti-Parasitic designed for intestinal worms and lice to combat a virus...

Pierre Korry is a quack, a snake oil salesman who's been discredited by many, many other Doctors and Medical Institutions.

@spjennifer AS for Kory,he was the one that told Congres quack, medicine was going to have to use cortical steroids to treat Covid 19,was called a a snake oil salesmans ,then,too(2020) but is SOP today...not instead of vaccination but as a therapeutic..Delta has changed the game

@bookerdana Choose to believe whoever you want to, Joe Rogan, Breitfart, Foax news but I'll choose to believe the AMA, CDC, FDA, WHO, APA over all of those. There are no empirical studies which prove Ivermectin is effective in treating CV-19 and until such a time as there are clinical trials conducted which might prove it effective, I'll maintain my belief in those organizations.

Agreed but what many Americans are doing is getting it from Animal Feed Stores as most legit MD's won't prescribe it for Covid.

@Virgo79 I agree but with Breitfart, Foax News and guys like Joe Rogan telling all their listeners that it's a miracle cure! if they can't get it prescribed by an MD, you know they're going to get it anywhere, any way they can! And that's exactly what many of them have been doing... Dealer on the corner, "what you want, I gots some crack, meth, weed, Ivermectin"
