Veronica Wolski, at the center of ivermectin firestorm, dies of COVID-19 infection

Veronica Wolski, the QAnon adherent whose recent hospitalization made her a cause celebre for the controversial medication ivermectin, died in the intensive care unit of AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center early Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said. She was 64.

Wolski’s cause of death was pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection with hypothyroidism as a contributing factor, a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office said Monday morning. The manner of death was natural.

For more than a week, her supporters had besieged Resurrection with demands that Wolski be given ivermectin. The medication is typically used to treat diseases caused by parasitic worms, but has been hailed as a COVID-19 cure by some despite a lack of definitive scientific proof or government authorization.

@MalteseFalconPunch They are refusing to take the life-saving vaccine or wear masks during the pandemic. For your own safety face reality, it's a virus. Wearing a mask is not much to ask. I got the J&J vaccine in April. I'm fine.

@Budwick Please do some reading, "Ivermectin" is designed to kill parasites in both livestock and humans, a virus isn't a "parasite". It would be like taking Tylenol to kill cancer, makes no sense whatsoever 🥴

Recently Ivermectin, a drug in use on hundreds of millions of humans since 1981, has faced severe malignment from the FDA and CDC. Ivermectin received a Nobel prize for drugs in 2015.

As more experts review the drug and confirm its safety profile, the many uses of this “award-winning” “wonder drug” including its anti-Covid and anti-tumor and potential anti-MS effects among others, are coming to light.

A 2012 study by Kylie M. Wagstaff et al. found Ivermectin actually prevents HIV replication. The study concluded:
“Ivermectin inhibits infection by HIV-1 and DENV which rely on Impα/β1-mediated nuclear transport”

“Nuclear import of viral proteins is critical to the life cycle of many viruses, including many RNA viruses that replicate exclusively in the cytoplasm such as DENV, respiratory syncytial virus and rabies…”
