People are just scared of anything that's different to what they know or practice. If you have a look into the history, the whole colonialism and events based on it were provoked by fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of other cultures and people who looked different and spoke different languages and even dressed differently. Africa, Asia, South America, no matter where colonialism set its foot, millions were killed, others were either converted or ensalved.

Well not much changed till 20th century. Still there were beaches which clearly mentioned non-whites were not allowed there in South Africa. Yes, this is 21st century and racism is losing is ground, but people with colonial mindset are still existing in today's society. Eventhough they don't have any authority to approve what they think or say, they are in a state of complete denial. Some of them exist in the congress, some still have their presence in politics. Why do you think so many wars are waged and so many groups are created that pose a threat to the modern world today. That's because they don't want anyone else to grow, they don't want their supremacy to fall. They don't want to lose control of things, so always targeting other nations. These whole concept of bad and good are defined by a few in power. They make some look horrible so that they can play the good guy card, but they are even worst cutthroats to begin with.

Having said that, 21st century is an age of information. Everyone is questioning everything, so it's not easy to brainwash people like
Old age. Things will change, and change for the good. Any kinda supemacy will fall and radicalism will be replaced by rationalism. May not be in our lifetime, but one day for sure.
