Weather wise it is similar to NY where I am from. Cold winters, hot humid summers. Fact is there isn't really many places you will escape the summertime heat unless you move to the mountains.
It's a little less humid than say NY because of its position to the Great Lakes but not by much.
By and large I am going to go out on a limb and say anywhere you go to escape hot summer heat is likely to have less work and probably less pay, but that might also come with lower costs of living so it might balance out or even mean more in pocket cash. Sorta how I could make a lot more money doing what I do now somewhere else, but the cost of living here also means I actually put more in my pocket than I would in the cities and that is really what matters most. Or like how no tradesman in their right mind takes travel work to NYC despite being paid almost double, knowing they ain't going to see any of the extra pay go anywhere but in the expenses of being there.
