@midnightrose Basically they get to enjoy the benefits of reduced disease spread while personally doing nothing to help
midnightrose · F
@CountScrofula Are they doing nothing? Is the vaccine the only way to reduce disease spread?

@midnightrose I've never met an anti vaxxers who respected social distancing and wore masks voluntarily

@CountScrofula Most don't true but I think they're learning to at least monitor their health and be more considerate of others, not exposing people to themselves when they have symptoms.

@midnightrose Sure somewhat. My point here is this is a social responsibility issue. It's like driving on the proper side of the road. If you all drive on the same side, the road functions. If we all "make a choice" and drive wherever, people die.
Sometimes a choice is antisocial and ludicrous.

@CountScrofula It's a harder to accept social responsibility when you aren't sure what you're being asked to do is safe. Telling people something is safe isn't the same as showing them it is safe. The numbers don't mean anything to most people when it's barely had any time in circulation.
A lot of people don't trust the entities making and pushing the vaccine. Driving on the same side of the road is about order, it poses no risk to comply. If they told you to drive over a bridge to be able to get to the other side but you didn't trust the bridge makers (didn't trust the bridge had been tested and built to standard or they were trying a new technology they'd never used before) you might not cross over that bridge for awhile until you knew it was safe, and some may never trust it.
