The goal at this point basically goes: Increase strength —> enroll in some form of martial arts, so if I’m ever jumped or someone attempts to assault me, I have a fighting chance. Lmao. @WandererTony

Aesthetically, it might look better this way, but my priority is my safety / ability to protect myself

@Sorceress That is a wise decision, I feel. But you do not need to initially build strength to start training for martial arts.
You have a slim frame and clearly do physical activity.
Join Martial Arts any time. You can cope with the training.

@Sorceress The wisest thing to do when in danger is to escape and avoid fights.
Even seasoned martial artists will tell you to fight only when it's absolutely unavoidable.

I think it's commendable that you're training and getting stronger but if your goal is protection you could achieve it right now by carrying some pepper spray or other defensive tools

Of course I would prefer to avoid fights, it just makes me feel safer to have a little strength on me. I’m 5’1 and slim. That in itself isn’t very intimidating. @hdiddle
