Excellent food, beautiful culture and fascinating history, kind people. I am part-Syrian and I have been to Syria just once. It's not likely I'll be back any time soon. Mostly I am sad about the state of that part of the world. But it is just one region among many with its problems and drawbacks. It's unfortunate that because of its resources and strategic location it's such a battleground for the world's powers.
