Always wondered about this...so just looked it up!

Grits = Porridge (essentially), right? Fantastic with Maple Syrup....

Mash Potato? Fantastic with mustard and grated cheese through it....

But I never understand why seem to have, forgive me if I'm wrong, a plate of grits with their vegges/meat?

From a Brit...that is just.....wrong!

@SammyJo yup...i think the same. Mash and porridge are really interchangeanle are they??
Bangers and grits with baked beans?? I dont think so!

@RubySoo Now...cornbread and beans is nice...I've had that....but, yes, potatoes and porridge really shouldn't be in the same post code....just sayin'

Hmmmmm.....250 odd years of independence and you guys think this is appropriate?!? LMAO!!!!!!

@SammyJo Breakfast grits are generally served with bacon or sausage, and grits are usually prepared with butter, sometimes cheese (maple syrup ? That’s a “no” here ! 🤢)
A popular brunch dish is shrimp and grits.

@bijouxbroussard Y'see....wrong, wrong, wrong! First off...I'm a veggie, and Bacon? Yuck! Lol! Our porridge is made from oats and please do try them with Maple Syrup...that's a taste sensation right there!
