I disagree, the failure is on the parents expecting the education system to be daycare for their children. By the time i started grade 1 I could read, write and speak 2 languages and could add, subtract, multiply and divide because my parents made the effort to teach me instead of sitting on the couch watching TV. Yes the public education systems have to teach to the lowest common denominator but doesn't mean that all children are, parents need to be involved in their children's education, not expect miracles from schools...

@spjennifer my parents were very involved and I was average and actually a total moron by first grade, failed a lot of stuff

@Elevatorpitches Right, of course my personal situation wouldn't necessarily work for all children but most parents today expect daycare or elementary schools to educate their children and many don't get involved at all.

@spjennifer they feel that way cause they are working all day and no care othrwise
Its an institutional failure not a moral failure, they have no choice than to expect schools to do it, parents are just NOT HOME at all anymore they would be driven out of their homes otherwise
some choice no affordable daycare either for the younger kids
torn in a hundred different ways, modern families
maybe I knew that when I became a perpetual SINGLE
and hey I still can't make it, no life nothing but failure, was never anything BUT that 4 me
and my mother stayed home and helped us but I was a loser anyway
its never as neat and pat as people wanna believe how things shake out
and I myself have no explanation why I was such a failure when I had such an ideal upbringing, just like yours
maybe just stupid

@Elevatorpitches It is a different world than our parents grew up in where maybe the wife could stay at home, may not be the case now but still parents are more selfish than they used to be and have a lot more things to do now too...
